Award for Prof Sahoo

Prof Dinabandhu Sahoo, Director, Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD) received the India's Sustainability Award for 2015 at a glittering function held at Hotel Taj, Bandra, Mumbai.
According to a statement issued by Atom Samarendra, Press Secretary to Director, IBSD, Imphal, Prof Sahoo was chosen amongst 50 influential sustainability leaders for his outstanding contribution in the field of bioresources and sustainable development.
The award is part of initiative launched by CM of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis.
It attracted a large number of people from different walks of life.
The main objective of the award was to achieve sustainable development goals in India and turning them into reality.
The award was presented by world's IT giant CISCO.
Other organisations which received the award amongst others included Royal Bank of Scotland, Tata Motors, Dr Reddy's Laboratory, Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs.
Receiving the award, Prof Sahoo mentioned that North East India is a hotspot for unique biodiversity and has a lot of scope for sustainable development.
He highlighted that NE region has a very high sensitive and fragile ecosystem but full of natural resources which are blended with unique culture.
Prof Sahoo urged the industry leaders present in the function to visit the NE region specially Manipur to explore the possibilities of setting up infrastructure and bioresources based industries so that it can create large number of jobs in the region.
Prof Sahoo also dedicated the award to the people of the NE especially to the people of Manipur.
