Imphal, April 01 2016 :
Popular Front of India, Manipur State has threatened to launch different forms of intense agitation with support from the public if the Government fails to take action against the police commandos who allegedly looted and brutally assaulted Md Attaur Rahman before he was abandoned at Mantripukhri on October 21 last year.
Speaking to reporters at Manipur Press Club, Front media-in-charge Benjamin M Shah said that 29-year-old Attaur runs an iron shop at Lilong Lamkhai.
He was pulled up by four police commando personnel from Old Assembly road, near Passport office at around 11 am on the day.
Benjamin further said that the police commandos abandoned Attaur after brutally assaulting and looting Rs 6 lakh at Mantripukhri in the evening of the same day.
Ever since the incident happened, the Front has been demanding action against the police commandos and return of the said amount to the victim.
However, the Government has been maintaining silence since the past six months, Benjamin lamented.
In some cases, the Government did not hesitate in taking action against dutiful police commandos without studying the facts.
However, Attaur's case has been deliberately sidelined although Congress leaders have been shouting on different political platforms/forums that they are secular and they stand against favouritism, he said.
Benjamin said that the Congress Government must show to the people that they are secular by punishing the guilty commando personnel.
He further said that the Front would launch different forms of intense agitation if action is not taken against these police commandos within April 6 .
