'Sarda Translation Award 2014' conferred to Bijoykumar

Imphal, September 30 2014 :
The International Translation Day obsevance was held at Manipur Press Club under the aegis of Sahitya Thoupang Lup today.
As a part of the observance, the Sarda Translation Award 2014 was conferred to Tayenjam Bijoykumar Singh, a resident of Keisamthong Top Leirak by former Director Song and Drama Division Government of India N Nabachandra Singh along with cash award and citation.
Bijoykumar has completed Degree in Electrical Engineering.
During the observance a magazine titled International Manipuri Magazine was also released followed by reading of translated poems and short stories by different readers.
Speaking as the chief guest, N Nabachandra Singh said that translation of literary works like poems, short stories etc is an important step as it enables exchange of ideas from different communities and languages amongst each other along with development of the language in which the work has been translated to.
Therefore, it plays a significant role in creating a bond of love amongst different communities, he added.
Apart from other dignitaries, Director JN Manipur Dance Academy, L Upendro Sharma also attended the function.
