Lungnila's case final order on Feb 28

Imphal, January 29 2019:
The judgement order on the alleged rape and murder case of Lungnila Elizabeth has been fixed on February 28 following the final argument hearing before the Court of Session Judge, Imphal West, today.
Accused Thokchom Nando, Letkhosei Haokip alias James Kuki and Ningombam Rome, were produced before the Court from Sajiwa Central Jail, for the hearing today.
The Court, after hearing the submission of both parties at length, fixed February 28 for the judgment order.
The argument hearing was conducted after the examination of the three individuals, was conducted on November 29, 2017 .
At that time, none of the accused individuals submitted prayers for producing defense witnesses through their defense counsels.
The last prosecution witness of the trial, produced by CBI Special Crime Branch, was examined by the Court on November 15, 2017 .
During the course of the eleven years long trial, CBI produced 65 prosecution witnesses (starting from February 6, 2008) after the agency submitted charge sheets against four accused.
During the course of the trial, one of the accused, O Deben alias Arnold, passed away.
It may be mentioned that 8 years old Lungnila Elizabeth, daughter of then Minister Francis Ngajokpa, was kidnapped by some unknown individuals from her school gate (Little Flower School) on November 4, 2003 .
Her highly decomposed body was found in a sack at Tera Sadokpam, Imphal West, on November 12 triggering mass protest from the public.
