Imphal, July 28 2016:
The Huidrom Meira Paibi Lup, Imphal East has appealed to all security forces not to harass former militants who have returned to the mainstream.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, Huidrom Meira Paibi Lup key functionary Huidrom Yaima said that army, Assam Rifles and police commandos have been harassing Ningombam Naoba s/o Inaocha, Ningombam Amujao s/o Inaocha and Ningombam Bishorjit s/o Thawan.
All the three individuals hail from Huidrom village, Imphal East.
Although they were cadres of URF, they returned home and were looking after their families after the outfit signed an MoU with the State Government, Yaima said.
A public meeting held at the village had discussed frequent harassments of the former militants by security forces, she said.
She then appealed to all the security forces not to disturb the villagers' tranquillity and also not to render the MoU meaningless.
If any security agencies feel that the three individuals should be arrested, a prior information must be given to the local Meira Paibi group or the local club or the village committee, she added.
