Imphal, September 27 2011: The results of first ever Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) for teaching in Primary and Upper Primary schools conducted by the Government of Manipur through Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BSEM) on September 16 have been declared today.

In all 33,381 candidates passed in the test.

Announcing the results at the office of BSEM, Principal Secretary in-charge of School Education Dr Suresh Babu explained that BSEM would be providing a certificate to each of the successful candidates.

The validity of the certificate is for 7 years and if a candidate wants to improve his/her score, then he/she could appear in the test again which would be conducted annually.

Fifty percent of the marks scored by the successful candidates in the test would be taken into consideration during mark tabulation in recruitment for teachers while another 50 percent from the academic records, he added.

In the first ever TET, the results of which were announced today, out of the total 26,278 candidates who appeared in Paper-I (meant for Primary Teacher), 10,220 candidates cleared the test, registering a pass percentage of 38.90 percent.

In Paper-II which is meant for Upper Primary Teachers, in all 15,680 candidates have appeared in the test, out of which 7107 candidates passed.

The pass percentage registered in Paper-II is 45.32 percent.

It is said that only those candidates who have passed in TET would be eligible to apply for recruitment of teachers and it would be based on the marks scored in the TET and the academic performance of the candidates.

For primary teachers, the academic score would be counted on the basis of class X, class XII and Diploma in Elementary Education or B Ed while for Upper Primary teachers, the academic score would be counted on the basis of class X, class XII, Degree & Diploma in Elementary Edn or B Ed .
