Tangkhul CSOs to probe controversial death of female patient in UDH

Ukhrul, August 27 2021:
Tangkhul CSOs has resolved to conduct an independent investigation against the controversial death of a female patients on Wednesday in Ukhrul District Hospital (UDH), Hungpung Ukhrul.
The deceased person, Wungkhai Angel aged 57 was first admitted in the private hospital (CHRSC) on August 18 and was later tested COVID-19 positive.
Following which she was immediately referred to the District Hospital.
Wungkhai Angel was then admitted to the isolation ward of the Ukhrul District Hospital.
According to source, the patient was given an injection for her illness on August 25 and after sometime, Wungkghai Angel started frothing at the mouth and died instantaneously around 4 pm on the same day.
Following her controversial death, the patient's family got agitated and blamed the medical staff for their negligence while alleging that the injection was administered to the patient without any diagnosis.
Meanwhile, the Tangkhul Civil Society Organisations and police rushed to the spot and prevented further escalation.
Both the hospital authorities and the victim's family reached an agreement to constitute an independent investigation team to examine and establish the truth behind the tragic incident in a fair manner.
Subsequently, an independent committee headed by TNL president, Hopingson along with representatives of Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL), Tangkhul Naga Aze Longphang (TNAL), Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long (TMNL), Tangkhul Shanao Long (TSL) and THYSO (Hungpung) as members was constituted.
The mortal remains of Late Wungkhai Angel was laid to rest on August 26 in her native Khamasom village.
