Shiv Sena eyes Assembly, local bodies polls

Shiv Sena, Manipur State unit is keen to contest in the upcoming State Assembly elections and other local bodies elections, said National observer (North East) of the party, Dilip Panicker today.
Assembly elections in Manipur is slated to be held in the early part of 2022 .
The National observer while addressing the media at the Shiv Sena Manipur State unit's office at Babupara, said that his purpose of visiting Manipur is to help organise and appoint new office bearers of the State unit.
The visit can also be considered as a beginning of the preparation for the impending elections to the Autonomous District Councils, Imphal Municipal Corporation and other Urban Local bodies and largely for the 2022 Assembly General Election, he said.
Due consultation has been started with all the functionaries for successful participation at these elections, he said while asserting that a detailed report will be submitted to the party's high command after thorough deliberations.
The decision of the high command will be final, he said.
Dilip Panicker highlighted that Shiv Sena Manipur Unit was set up on January 21, 1972 .
In these 48 years, many political parties had formed Governments, however no Government has been able to extend the developmental and welfare schemes to the people of the State successfully, he said.
Shiv Sena is a fast expanding political party and has its unit in almost every State of the country, he said while adding that the party under the leadership of Udhav Thackeray, is eyeing to set a strong foothold in the North East.
The only objective of the party is the welfare of all the citizens, the National observer said.
Rajya Sabha MP, Anil Desai of Shiv Sena will be landing here in Imphal soon in connection with the upcoming elections, he continued.
