32 hours total bandh ends

Normal life returned at Jiribam as the 32-hour total Jiribam bandh imposed by the Jiribam District Demand Committee (JDDC), Jiribam, demanding recognition of Jiribam Sub-division as a full-fledged revenue district ended at 2 pm today, our correspondent reports.
The total bandh began from 6 am on Sunday.
School, offices, shops, markets and oil pumps in the area remained closed and passenger services were suspended during the bandh.
Security forces were deployed at most places of the sub-division during the bandh.
JDDC convenor in press meet held at Apunba Meira Paibi office today thanked the organisations, institutes and individuals who have supported the bandh.
He said the committee would further continue its protest until their demand is met.
