Imphal, October 14 2017:
Rongmei Students' Organisation, Manipur (RSOM) has said that Noney and Tamenglong districts face immense shortage in terms of electricity, education facilities, banking and medical facilities due to Government negligence .
Chairman of the organization, Gaan Rongmei, informed this to media persons during a press meet held at Manipur Press Club today .
He said that the 132/33 KV power substation at Rengpang has not been fixed till date after it developed problems around a month ago .
This has created immense hardship for the people in Noney and Tamenglong districts thereby forcing the people to get electricity from other lines which cannot bear the essential power supply in the districts, he explained .
Stating that people pay electricity bills in Noney through line-men, he lamented that the State Government and the authority concerned have not paid any attention to the requests to open counters/offices for paying bills in the district and to increase man power in the Electricity Department office at Noney .
The PHCs in Oinamlok and Khoupum have only one doctor each although there should be normally eight doctors for each PHC .
The shortage of doctors in the PHCs has added more woes to the people of the district who are already deprived of proper medical attention .
Stating that many Government schools in the two districts face shortage of teachers, the chairman claimed that the pre and post matric scholarship for ST students are yet to be given to half of the total entitled students .
Currency at UBI Bank branch at Noney, which happens to be the major currency supplier in the district, is also out of stock and this has caused another hardship to the people, he added .
Highlighting all these cases, Gaan urged the State Government and the authorities concerned to look into the matter at the earliest and take up necessary steps.
