RK Ranjan urges State scholars to popularise unsung heroes

Minister of State, Education and External Affairs, Dr RK Ranjan has appealed to State scholars to popularise the valiant unsung heroes who laid down their lives to safeguard Manipur's independence.
The statement was made by Dr RK Ranjan at an integrated communication and outreach programme conducted in connection with Har Ghar Tiranga campaign and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav organised by Ministry of Information & Broadcasting Central Bureau of Communication Regional Office Imphal at their auditorium hall located in Wangkhei Yonglan Leirak.
Addressing the gathering, the MoS pointed out that the public are aware of only a handful of the leading names who were involved in the struggle against British colonialism.
Therefore, he urged State scholars to popularise such unnamed and unsung heroes to bring awareness to the public.
Further, he stated that people should not display their patriotism only with the arrival of 13 August or 23 April (Khongjom Day) .
Patriotism should be an innate part of one's existence, he maintained.
The Minister also urged people to work together with the goal of putting Manipur squarely at the forefront in all aspects.
Touching on the campaign to hoist the tricolour in all households across the country with the coming of the 75 th Independence Day of India, he said that with this initiative, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had given everyone an opportunity to show their nationalism and patriotism.
The event was also attended by Ng Uttam, director, Social Welfare Department; Engam Pame, director, Press Information Bureau Imphal, Dr Aribam Ibomcha, Head of Office, CBC, RO, imphal and N Malemsanba Meetei, Assistant Professor Department of History, GP Women's College as presidium members.
The event was also marked by the release of an e-feature titled "Partition Horror Remembrance Day" and a music video called "Hey Ima Manipur" .
