Biswajit talks tough, says no compromise on quality control

Annoyed by the non-maintenance of quality control in the ongoing construction of roads in Ukhrul town, Works Minister Th Biswajit said that a meeting will be held with the authority of National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) within two days.
Biswajit inspected the construction of roads in Ukhrul town in the course of his journey to the town inaugurate the 8th Tangkhul-Naga Zingtun Longphang Sports cum Cultural Festival at Ngainga village yesterday.

Speaking to media persons, he said that NHIDCL authority will be asked to maintain quality control in the road construction.
He made it clear that there will be no compromise on quality control in construction works including road and bridge whether it is in the hills or valley.
He expressed strong displeasure over the execution of the construction work being taken up by NHIDCL, saying the displeasure will be vindicated in the proposed meeting.
The Minister said that the Government ought to monitor the way of construction works taken up in different parts of the State.
Referring to the photos uploaded on social media recently pointing out the non-maintenance of quality control in the construction of roads in the town, he elaborated that repairing of the highway roads in the State is entrusted to NHIDCL and BRO.
Besides not maintaining quality control, the sluggish pace of the construction work is also a matter of concern, the Minister said.
Assuring that best efforts will be put in to ensure early completion of the road construction work, Biswajit said that a message was conveyed to NHIDCL yesterday to not compromise with quality control in the work.
He said that a target has been set to complete the road construction work by March.
However, extra efforts will be made to complete the work by January or February, the Works Minister added.
