Loan assured to farmers

NABARD Officer in-charge SV Nemlekar has announced the financial institution's preparedness to provide loan and grant assistance to farmers and registered bodies involved in the fishery, agriculture and veterinary sectors through any recognised banks operating in Manipur.
speaking as the functional president in the felicitation of Minister of Fishery, Rural Development and MOBC Minister cum seminar on 'Fishery Development in Manipur' at GM Hall here today, Nemlekar asserting commitment of NABARD to extend all possible assistance to the peasant community, including material provision at subsidised rate, called upon the beneficiary individuals or bodies to utilise financial and material assistance purposefully.
As guest of honour former Joint Director (Fisheries) Kh Chandra Singh stressed on the need for application of scientific technology and adequate provision of fodder by the department concerned in order to enhance fish productivity in the State.
President of programme host National Association of Fisherman, Manipur unit S Kangjamba, who also addressed the gathering highlighted that when drought-like situation prevailed in Manipur in 2009 a memorandum was submitted to the Government of Manipur for ensuring provision of fingerlings, lime and water pump sets to the fish farmers at subsidised rate.
He, however, regretted that there is no positive response from the Government on the proposal.
Fishery Officer L Rajendro attended the event as a resource person.
Among others, issues ranging from group housing scheme, group insurance scheme, fishing off-season, provision of water pumps, lime and fingerlings, and fishery training were deliberated during the seminar session.
