Ccpur, August 10 2016:
The Siamsinpawlpi (SSPP) has taken the cases of JE outbreak in the district to the Union Health Minister and urged for the Centre's approval to conduct adult vaccination to effectively control the outbreak which has so far claimed the lives of 'five' persons.
A memorandum was submitted wherein it said JE in Churachandpur town has already claimed 'five' lives.
ELISA Test was conducted on some patients of which 6 turned out to be positive, 6 were equivocal, 3 were negative while 4 of them are already death.
The data collected was last updated on August 5 .
Due to mass vaccination campaign for children between the age group of 1-15 during 2014-15, no positive cases have been reported among the age group so far.
All the positive JE cases found till date are in adults between the age group of 19-50 .
Consequently, it is clearly evident that JE infection among adults is spreading rapidly in the district and is taking place as per the transmission session pattern indicated in the operational guidelines wherein it said the peak session of the outbreak is between June and September.
Siamsinpawlpi requested the authority concerned to immediately declare Churachandpur district as endemic district and recommend adult vaccination at the earliest.
