Biren assures FM radio station in Jiribam

A delegation of Manipuri Youth Front, Assam (MYFA) today called on Chief Minister N Biren Singh and highlighted various issues faced by the Manipuris settling in Assam .
The MYFA delegation was led by its president Seram Herajit and secretary general Fanjoubam Lokenath .
During the meeting, CM Biren reportedly assured the delegation that a FM radio station would be established in Jiribam soon .
He also assured to consider their demands regarding establishment of a cultural complex cum library in Silchar to protect and promote Manipuri rich culture and construction of a guest house in Imphal for Manipuri visitors from outside .
A memorandum was also submitted to the CM seeking his help in addressing the grievances of the Manipuris settling outside.
MYFA, in its memorandum, urged the CM to construct a Manipuri Bhavan at Rongpur, Silchar, Assam without further delay .
"Despite the allotment of the land to the Government of Manipur at Rongpur, Silchar for the construction of Manipuri Bhavan, the land is yet to be utilized for the construction since 2009.Construction of such a Bhavan is in utmost need in Silchar.” it stated .
As many as 600 students, teachers, Government employees, businessmen and women are facing tremendous problems due to lack of accommodation and hospitalities in the city, it said .
As the road from Imphal-Silchar-Imphal is in terrible condition, it takes a lot of time while passing through the National Highway during rainy seasons, causing severe inconveniences to the travelers particularly women and children who are pursuing their studies in Silchar and Imphal in terms of accommodation and fooding," MYFA president Seram Herajit said .
He informed that as many as 500 loaded trucks carrying livestock to Manipur are passing via Silchar.
The drivers who are sacrificing their lives to serve the people of Manipur are also facing hardships due to lack of accommodation.
