Police commandos net five UG activists

Imphal West poilce commandos have arrested three active members of the outlawed KYKL organisation from Kakwa Bazar area today when they were travelling in a Maruti car, said a statement issued by the SSP (Imphal West) .
The arrested persons have been identified as Longjam Tompok alias Langjaba alias Ibungo alias Tomthin (29) s/o L Chaoba Singh of Pechu Lampak, Thiyam Anandkumar alias Theko alias Jackson Singh (260 s/o (L) Th Ngouba Singh of Bor Lampak Kakwa and salam Sanatomba Singh (29) s/o S Raghumani of Samurou Awang Leikai.
The SSP statement maintained that all three persons were involved in extortion of money from general public, planning in kidnapping, etc.
In addition to recovering one 9 mm pistol from the possession of Tompok, a Maruti car (MN01K/0705) and four mobile phones have been seized, it added.
Meanwhile, a cadre of PREPAK-Pro group identified as Hawaibam Meghachandra Singh (50) s/o H Amar Singh of Lilong Chajing Mairenkhong has been round up from near his residence on November 5 morning by a team of Imphal East district commandos.
A statement issued by SP (IE) said Meghachandra joined the outfit through one Rajen Singh in August 2011 and was involved in extortion of money from general public, Govt officials, etc.
On the otherhand, a team of IE commandos led by Jem Md Jakariya rounded up a lady from whom about 6 kg drugs likely to be Kani (opium) and one Nokia mobile phone handset with Aircel SIM (8014924766) have been recovered.
The arrested lady identified as Lhingkhoneng Baite alias Nengbul (43) w/o Jamsei Baite of Tatjang village near Sugnu has reportedly disclosed of acquiring the stuff (Kani) from Myanmar at the cost of Rs 10,000 per packet weighing about
a kilogram.
