Imphal, January 07 2011:
Two teachers allegedly responsible for leaking BCom 1st Semester Financial Accounting question paper have been pulled up by DESAM.
Speaking to media persons at their office at Keishampat this evening, DESAM assistant general secretary Arambam Thoithoi said that following a complaint about the question paper leakage, DESAM conducted an investigation during which it was discovered that the two teachers deliberately gave away the question papers.
Examination for the Financial Accounting paper was conducted yesterday under Manipur University.
Out of the total mark of 100, questions for 50 marks were set by Yumnam Basanta from Malom Bazar who is a part-time Lecturer at DM College of Commerce.
Though the question paper should be kept secretly, Naorem Biren of Tentha Khunjao who is a colleague of Basanta at the same college stole the question paper on January 1 .
The two teachers are close friends.
Biren disclosed questions for 30 marks to his student named Juneja through Juneja's elder brother Darina who is a former student of DM College of Commerce.
However, Basanta claimed that he was unaware when Biren stole the question papers.
Incidentally, Juneja is Games and Sports secretary of DMC Commerce.
Joining the press meet, DESAM general secretary M Angamba said that the main responsibility for the question paper leakage should be borne by Head of Department of DMC Commerce AK Das.
He further appealed to the MU authority to look into the matter and make necessary arrangements to conduct re-examination of the particular paper.
This time DESAM would not take up any action against the two teachers except appealing to them to avoid such blunders in future.
If the same mistake is committed for a second time, DESAM would urge the relevant authority to terminate them from service, the general secretary said.
