Imphal, July 02 2015 :
The Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF), Pangal Students' Organisation (PSO), All Manipur Arts and Culture Students' Union (AMACSU) and the Manipur Enat Kanba Lup have joined hands to monitor shady restaurants where immoral or raunchy activities are suspected.
The four organisations have already formed a joint committee to carry out an extensive inspection drive.
Speaking to media persons at their Keishamthong Top Leirak office today, MSF president and joint committee convenor Kh Serajuddin said that they would launch a special inspection drive to shady restaurants, cafes and food stalls under their Eikhoi Lairik Ningthina Tamshi campaign.
The drive has been necessitated as many restaurants and cafes have become places of vulgar and/or raunchy activities.
All restaurants, cafes and food stalls should have proper lighting systems so that all their customers can see each other.
Curtains and partitions which separate a pair of seats from another would not be allowed, Serajuddin said.
He also appealed to the Government authorities concerned to check whether foods and beverages served at restaurants and cafes are safe or not.
If any individual or group come for restaurant inspection in the name of MSF or the joint committee, people may call 8575393926 for confirmation.
He further appealed to Police Department, local clubs and Meira Paibis to support the joint committee's endeavour.
