Noting that people have some suspicions against top ranking officials of the Government following the recent seizure of huge consignment of drugs, a meeting of the Congress legislature party meeting held today agreed that the State Government should take up stringent actions against drug smuggling so as to remove any sort of suspicion people have in the Government.
The CLP meeting held today deliberated at length the sudden spurt in drug trafficking and smuggling in Manipur and the suspected involvement of some MLAs, Ministers and bureaucrats in the illegal business practice which aroused deep suspicion amongst the public against the Government.
Congress MLAs who participated in the meeting suggested that stringent actions should be initiated which can deter involvement of public servants in such illegal practice as drug smuggling.
The meeting also discussed about effective coordination and consultation between Ministers and MLAs before and while implementing any development/welfare programmes.
