Ibomcha appointed PWD Commissioner

L Ibomcha has been appointed as State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities.
The state government has issued an order on June 28 in this regard.
Following this development, All Tribal Disabled Union, Manipur (ATDUM) ex-pressed its happiness.
ATDUM also expressed happiness that the disability scholarship has also been increased by the State Govt.ATDUM said it has been demanding from the State Government since 2009 for the appointment of the State Commissioner for the Persons with Disabilities.
"The State Government has accordingly appointed Shri L.Ibomcha Singh for the said post on June 28, 2014 vide Govt.Order No.7/49/2010-S(SW) under section 60 of the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995 and rule 46B of the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Mani-pur Rules, 1996 for a period of 3 (three) years.
"For the demand of appointment of State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, the ATDUM had pressurized and agitated on several occasions.
The pressure laid by the ATDUM agitation was felt by the state Government and the demand of the ATDUM is fulfilled.
ATDUM expresses gratitude for this act of the Government and the Social Welfare minister," ATDUM expressed.
Regarding the demand for the increament or enhanch-ment of the disability scholar- ship amount granted for the welfare of the disabled students is also fulfilled and is appreciated by the ATDUM.
"Now, the State Commissioner for Persons with Disa- bilities has been appointed and ATDUM is looking forward that he will bring deve- lopment for the physically challenged persons in the state and will work for the welfare of the physically challenged persons.
Regarding all the pending and unheard issues and the provisions given be the Disabilities Act can be implemented and ensured that the benefits such as 3% reservation in the government jobs or service, 3% reservation in all poverty alleviation schemes and the benefits," ATDUM stated.
