In sync with the global phenomena of computers and allied appliances becoming inevitable in almost every spheres of life, Johnstone Higher Secondary School today became the first among Government educational institutions to have Smart Class facility.
Inaugurated by Sagolband AC MLA RK Imo, the Smart Class is a system under which computer-operated projector and display screen would be main equipment for the students to go through their lessons.
describing the development as unique and pro-active measure and exuding confidence that the students would gain tremendously, the MLA expressed serious concern on the trend of Manipuri students opting to study outside the State thereby depleting the State exchequer.
Noting that ensuring better educational facilities in the State would reverse the trend and the financial resources thus saved could be utilised in further development of the education system, RK Imo called upon authorities of Education Department to acknowledge and detect flaws hampering development of education in order to work out effective strategies for revival of the most important component of modern human civilisation.
Assuring that he would prevail upon the Education Minister for relevant measures to develop infrastructure, the MLA referring to poorly maintained school campus, classrooms and rain-water inundated basketball court, donated Rs 50,000 from his MLA Development Fund as personal assistance to facilitate the school authorities uphold sanctity of the institution.
Conveying deep condolence on the recent death of Manipuri girl in Delhi, Imo suggested that the State authorities take up the issue with their Delhi counter-parts and ensure that the culprit(s) are pulled up for befitting punishment.
As functional president, School principal W Chaoba Devi lamented negative concept of the masses about Government schools and explained that unsatisfactory pass percentage of government school in examinations is not due to incompetency of the teachers.
Affirming that Government school teachers are well qualified, she emphasised on the need for contribution and collective effort of the students, teachers and parents/guardians.
The principal also opined that growing stature of private schools might be due to wealthy as well as Government officials preferring education of their wards in private schools there increasing financial input to these schools thereby igniting better performance from the students.
She also exuded confidence that installation of Smart class will enhance reputation of the school and facilitate the students to excel academically in the near future.
Additional Director (Edn-S) W Chandrakumar informed that Smart Classes would also be installed at TG Higher Secondary School, CC Hr Secy School, Ukhrul Hr Secy School and Rengkhang School.
