Imphal, July 29 2011:
Saying that it is very difficult for tribal people residing in far flung areas and naturally not fluent in Manipuri to meet the Chief Minister who is also Minister for Tribal Development and Hills for discussion regarding important issues and matters relating to the tribal people and hill affairs, the Movement for Tribal people's Rights Manipur (MTPRM) has appealed to the Chief Minister to make a schedule for meeting tribal people three days a week so as to enable tribal people express their grievances.
In a democratic country like India, it would be serious crime on the part of any Ministers if they avoid meeting whom they represent, said MTPRM in a memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister.
"If our genuine proposal/ demand is not translated into action within one week, we may be compelled to express our resentment by bringing to the notice of the Prime minister, UPA Chairperson, leader of the Opposition of the Union Government and the Governor of Manipur for denial of rights of the democratic citizens in the interest of justice", the memorandum stated.
