Imphal, May 29 2018:
Most State Government offices have been paralysed by the ongoing cease work strike spearheaded by the JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO which has completed 69 days today.
With majority of the State Government employees already on strike demanding implementation of the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission, citizens are now facing many difficulties.
While employees of Family Welfare Department staged a protest demonstration, employees of Planning Department joined the cease work strike from today.
Notably, employees of the Secretariat South Block and North Block joined the indefinite cease work strike since yesterday under the Manipur Secretariat Services Association.
For the Second consecutive day, no employee of the Secretariat did their work.
As such, movement of all files came to a grinding halt.
A large number of Secretariat employees were also seen staging a sit-in-protest in front of the main staircase thereby obstructing entry of higher officers as well as visitors.
Meanwhile, Manipur Secretary (Non-Ministerial) Service Association held a general body meeting today and decided to launch different modes of agitation.
According to a press release issued by the association's general secretary, drivers would wear black badges from May 30 to June 3 and this would be followed by indefinite cease work strike from June 4 until the demand for 7th Pay for State Government employees.
