Imphal, July 28 2013:
Awang Sekmai Unemployed Tata Magic Owner Union has threatened the Government to launch various forms of agitation including blocking of National Highway if suspension of permits for eight Tata Magic vehicles are not revoked at the earliest.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, Secretary of the union, H Priyo stated that eight Tata Magic vehicles have been operating passenger service on the said route after permits were issued by the Transport Department Director.
However, the said permits were cancelled on July 15 last after All Manipur Bus Owner Federation complained the matter to the Transport Minister.
The permits were handed over by an Inspector of the Transport Department, however it is not satisfactory that the permits were suspended after only listening to the complaint of the Federation, which is one sided, Priyo lamented and warned that various forms of agitation including National Highway blockade will be launched if the suspended service is not brought back within August 10 .
Leikhampokpi Village Chief Ch Mazaklengbo observed that the said eight Tata Magic vehicles were operating service upto Kanglatongbi, Shantipur, Makhon village, AR Colony, K Langnom village, Namdenglong village and Leikhampokpi village.
As Leikhampokpi is located around 4-5 km away from the highway, different inconveniences are being faced by the villagers in leaving their children to school, trading vegetables and rushing to hospitals at the time of emergency.
