Kangpokpi, November 22 2020:
A non-SoO Kuki militant armed group, Socialist Democratic Front of Kukiland (SDFK) vehemently condemned the alleged forceful eviction works along the Moreh International by-pass road against the consent of the people.
The outfit information and publicity secretary, S Kuki said that ICP Moreh by-pass road was jointly surveyed by Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Asian Highway (AH) and Development Corporation Limited to appropriately compensate affected victims.
However, Deputy Commissioner, Tengnoupal Mayanglambam Rajkumar, and ex-intending outer MP candidate Benjamin Mate in consultation with PS Haokip, president KNO surreptitiously 'misappropriated' the funds and allowed to carry out the forced eviction works, he added.
He continued that despite the disbursement of compensation to the affected victims, Jangthang Mate, Chairman, Mate Tribe Union, Seijang Baite, Chairman Kuki Chief Association, Thangpao Touthang and Tongpao Haokip have again embezzled the funds.
He further said that surprisingly few of the unsurveyed lands of 6 Lamkang household, 13 Tengnoupal village household, 1 Chahmol village household, 5 Lokchao village household and few households around Moreh College which were never included in Moreh by-pass road construction were erroneously listed as affected victims and compensated.
It is therefore informed that the aforementioned names should duly clarify to the public and ensure that those affected victims are appropriately compensated and rehabilitated at the earliest, the outfit said and added that the repercussions for failing to heed the information would be the sole responsibility of the defaulters.
