Kohima, September 22:
A student of B.A First Year was stabbed to death allegedly by an NSCN-K cadre at Nagabazar colony Kohima last night at around 10:20.Confirming the report today, police sources revealed that the victim identified as one Aphreu Meru (24) s/o Vigwelhuto Meru of Khonoma village, Kohima was reportedly stabbed with a sharp weapon (khukuri) in his own room by one Vitekhotuo Newiry alias Apu s/o of Zekethei Newiry of Sohumi village under Phek district.
Though actual cause of the incident could not be ascertained, police have arrested one of the accused while the main accused is reportedly on the run till the time of filing this report.
Sources also revealed that after being stabbed below the right chest, the victim managed to approach the Pastor of Nagamese Baptist Church.
The pastor took the victim to hospital but reportedly succumbed to injury while being treated.
Subsequently the matter was informed to police who on investigation managed to take under custody one of the co-accused.
They also searched the incident place but could not recover the weapon used by the accused.
A case has been registered under North PS and search is on to nab the main culprit who has been abstaining arrest.
