Protest staged against repeated bomb attack on widow

Imphal, January 22 2023:
Residents of Andro staged a sit-in protest today in front of the gate of Andro Panam Ningthou Meihoubirol Pana Loishang condemning the repeated planting of bombs at the residence of a widow at Andro Khoibu Leikai, Imphal East and causing an atmosphere of fear.
It is worth noting that a Chinese hand-grenade was planted in the courtyard of Asheibam Ongbi Tombimacha (55), w/o (L) Pishak on the evening of January 16.A team of Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad of Manipur Police had disposed off the grenade safely at a nearby paddy field.
Separately, about a month and a half ago, unknown perpetrators had planted a bomb at Tombimacha's residence.
In this regard, it is worth noting that Tombimacha is a daily wage earner.
As such, the residents of Andro rose in protest against this repeated act of bomb attack on a widow.
The protest was jointly organised by All Andro Meira Paibi Association, All Andro Youth Clubs Association, Meira Paibi Apunba Lup Andro, Eastern Scheduled Caste Students Union and Andro Panam Ningthou Meihoubirol Pana Loishang.
Speaking by the sideline of the protest, Asheibam Leirangtdn, secretary, Meira Paibi Apunba Lup Andro called the repeated planting of bombs an act of terror upon the weak and vulnerable.
She also stated that Andro residents will not remain as mute spectators if similar acts occur again.
Further she demanded a clarification from the responsible party explaining why explosives were planted at the widow's residence repeatedly.
