CCpur, March 20 2019:
The JAC-AKT today took out a rally along with the lifeless body of K Tualkhanlian despite the promulgation of prohibitory orders under CrPC 144 leading to a stiff standoff with the police.
As announced earlier, the JAC took out the coffin rally today amidst tight security deployment both at the hospital and in front of the police station.
Armed with riot gears and tear gas, the police deployed personnel as well as barricades at all crucial locations but the JAC broke the mortuary lock at about 11 am to take the body out as their request for the key was denied.
They then marched with the body along the route they had planned earlier.
However, a large posse of police personnel led by the Sr SP stopped the rally about 200 meters from the police station leading to a stiff standoff.
Eventually with the engagement of the Magistrates deputed by the local administration the rally was allowed to pass along the periphery of the police station and returned as planned.
As the standoff which lasted for about an hour was tense, all traffic and shops along the standoff location remained closed until the situation subsided.
The JAC-AKT was set up by various philanthropic organisations based in the Churachandpur, after the case remained unsolved for quite sometime.
Spearheading the case, the JAC had for the first time in Churachandpur protested along the street with a dead body.
They also alleged that the demands of any JAC formed in the district has been constantly ignored in the past and they are willing to share that fate, and hence they took the extreme step to march along the street despite the standing prohibitory orders.
The JAC also expressed their resentment against the law enforcing agencies for failing to solve the murder in such a relatively small village.
