A cultural programme on 'Tribal and Folk Arts of Manipur' was organised at Asha-Jina Complex, North AOC to celebrate 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.
The celebration was organised by the State Celebration Committee in association with Ramakrishna Math and Mission, Belur.
Along with the celebration delegates students offered floral tributes to the portrait of Swami Vivekananda.
Describing Swami Vivekananda as a campaigner of global peace, Belur Mission's coordinator Rev Swami Vishwatmanandaji Maharaj said Vivekananda's principle of secularism is not only very much relevant at the present juncture but needs to be promoted and upheld by every section of the society to usher an era of global peace and tranquillity.
Among others, representatives of Ramakrishna Missions of Belur, Karimganj, Cherapunjee and shillong as well as State Celebration Committee president Padmashree Thongram Haridas were present at the occasion.
As part of the celebration cultural troupes of Ragailong (Kabui), JN Manipur Dance Academy (Lai Haraoba), Lainingkhul (Chothe), Churachandpur (Kom), Bungte chiru (Chiru) and Sanskar Bharati Manipur (thang-Ta) performed.
A lecture on 'Preservation & Promotion of Tribal and Folk Art and Culture' was also delivered by Fellow (Dance) of Ministry of Art and Culture RK Danisana.
