Imphal, February 19 2016 :
Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) and BJP Nambol Mandal have alleged that development works were undertaken just for name's sake even as huge amounts of fund were sanctioned for development of integrated tourist circuit at Nambol Khoriphaba and Nambol Chingphu Macha.
A joint team of BJYM, BJP Nambol Mandal and media persons today made a field inspection of the development works.
BJYM Manipur president O Malesh said that Rs 120 lakh was sanctioned for development of Nambol Khoriphaba as a part of a tourism project in 2011 but the same work remains incomplete till date.
Although the toilet complex appears to be completed from outside, nobody knows the condition of its interior as the complex remains locked.
But the cafeteria has been abandoned although the construction work is incomplete.
Although the stipulated for implementation of the project has expired, the project is far from being complete.
Only the walls have been constructed for the cafeteria.
Neither the roof nor the floor has been constructed, and cracks have already appeared on the walls which show total negligence of the qualitative aspect while constructing them.
A report was submitted in 2011-13 claiming that construction of the cafeteria had been completed by 33 per cent.
But the same structure remains incomplete till date.
BJYM and BJP would apprise the Centre about the project, Malesh said.
He also demanded the State Government to bring out a white paper on the project.
Even as the Congress Government was making tall claims about undertaking various development programmes, it was doing nothing at the ground.
Misappropriation of funds sanctioned for different tourism projects has only curtailed flow of funds for taking up more projects.
BJP Nambol Mandal president S Brajamani said that utilization certificate has been already issued in connection with construction of the cafeteria.
He decried the incompletion of the cafeteria although its stipulated period for construction and completion is 36 months.
The team then went to Chingphu Macha where another project must be taken up at the cost of Rs 595 lakh as a part of an integrated tourist circuit.
But the team saw only some columns and no other construction works.
Although an amount of Rs 518 lakh and 33 thousand was sanctioned construction of a tourist lodge, only the compound fence has been constructed.
Notably, a total amount of Rs 774 lakh and 75 thousand was sanctioned for construction of an integrated tourist circuit at Chingphu Macha, Chingphu Achouba and Nambol Khoriphaba in 2011-12.Out of the sanctioned amount, Rs 619 lakh and 64 thousand had been sanctioned and utilization certificates submitted, Malesh added.
The team also went to Moirang and inspected some tourism projects taken up there.
