National seminar on Python programming begins at Manipur University

The "National Seminar cum Workshop on Python Programming: Theory, Application and Implementation" began today at the conference hall of Physics Department, Manipur University (MU), Canchipur.
The inaugural function of the three-day long seminar cum workshop which is being organized by Department of Physics, Manipur University was graced by MU Administrator Jarnail Singh, Department of Physics, MU Head N Nimai Singh and IISER, Kolkata Professor Prasanta K Panigrahi as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking at the function, Jarnail Singh underscored the importance of physics, saying that it is the basic science and is applicable in the day to day living.
He opined that one should go deeper into the aspects of physics and try to explore the phenomena 'taking place around us'.
He also expressed happiness as many distinguished resource persons and experts from outside the State are attending the seminar cum workshop to address, interact and guide the students and faculties.
Prasanta K Panigrahi contended that the synergy between physics and other things could do many wonderful things.
Stressing on the growing significance for application of computers in physics and other disciplines of science, he pointed out that one can access quantum computers and explore the broader knowledge of science, be it about chemical reactions or others.
He also conveyed that the Government of India is giving due emphasis on introduction of QUAST in the education sector of the country and added that the fund for the said initiative is about to be released.
Meanwhile, Nimai observed that the UGC curriculum needs reformation with the reintroduction of honours and general variants in science stream and other subjects.
He said that bifurcating honours and general categories in UGC curriculum will better students in fostering with specialized subjects.
While noting that in science, learning should be supplemented with the application of computer and students should not be confined to laboratory, Nimai also mooted the idea of opening undergraduate courses in MU to enable the university play greater role and go par in excellence with the universities of other States.
Multiple resource persons and experts from various institutions and faculties of MU will deliver lectures during the three-day long seminar cum workshop.
It aims at motivating faculty members, research scholars, postgraduate and undergraduate students from the different colleges and universities in the North-Eastern Region of India, towards the recent trends of Python and its applications.
