Imphal, August 17 2009:
Five-member Parliamentary team of the BJP, comprising four MPs, will arrive in Imphal on August 18 to get detail reports on the Khwairamband incident of July 23 and to submit the same to the Centre to demand appropriate action.
The members will include BJP National Spokesperson, Prakash Jabeshore, VP Bijoy Chhatrabati, BJP (Assam State) president Rahman Dekkar, National Executive member Rajen Gohain, and BJP North East in-charge Chandrasekhar Rao.
The BJP Parliamentary team will touch down the Imphal airport at 9am on August 18.The team will meet representatives of civil society organisations regarding the spurt of violence in the state.
The team is also said to assess the impact of prolonged imposition of curfew by the government.
The BJP MPs will prominently take report on the Khwairamband incident of July 23.They are also meeting the victims' families during their stay.
The team is also said to meet Irom Sharmila Chanu in the evening.
The team will leave Imphal the next day after a meeting with the party members of the state here.
