Speaking at the occasion, Manglem Monsang said Chandel is one of the most backward districts among the 5 hill districts of the State.
The 18 kms stretch of the District Headquarters road from Pallel has been in a deplorable condition since the last many years, he added.
Developmental projects and schemes taken up by the Government are quite far from being satisfactory, he said.
The stake holders including work agencies and contractors of developmental schemes should implement the Government schemes whole-heartedly for the development of the district, he added.
Senapati ADC Chairman SL Markson, Chandel ADC Member Worngam Nula and Chandel ADC’s Additional Chief Executive Officer Ts Kothar Anal also spoke at the inaugural function.
NPF Chandel Division Ts Molarsing and Monsang Tribe Union’s President Benitha Monsang and United College’s Principal Bd Thumdal were also present at the inaugural function besides departmental staff of ADC Chandel, village chiefs and CSO leaders.
It may be mentioned that a suspension bridge over Chakpi river connecting Monsang Pantha and United College Lambung was washed away by a flood last year.
