The All Manipur Bengali Students' Union (AMBSU), Jiribam has started boycotting 53 Lower Primary and High Schools in the district from June 7 in connection with a row over a language taught in these schools, our correspondent reports.

On June 6, the union submitted a reminder of the May 12 memorandum with a warning to launch indefinite boycott of schools located in Bengali inhabited areas of Jiribam in case the State Govt fails to respond within June 7 .
The union, at a press meet held today also said they will continue with the boycott until the State Government reponds to their demands.
Out of the 53 schools, 46 are Lower Primary Schools and 7 are High Schools.
