Imphal, April 14 2016 :
On the occasion of its 36th raising day (April 14), the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) has conveyed best wishes to all fellow revolutionary organisations of WESEA apart from reminding all the people about its genesis.
According to a statement issued by the outfit's president Ksh Laba Meitei, the KCP was set up by Ngangkham Babu who was a former member of the Meitei State Committee (MSC) on April 14, 1980 .
The MSC was established in 1963 under the leadership of Wangkheimayum Tomba who was a follower of Hijam Irabot.
Since its establishment, KCP has been waging a war of liberation against the alien rule.
All the nations of South East Asia which came into being during the colonial period and thereafter can be categorised into two groups vis 'ethno-nations' and 'social-nations'.
However, both these types of nations lacked solid foundations.
After the partition of India and Pakistan in 1947, Bangladesh was carved out from Pakistan in 1971 .
People living under British occupation were able to build up a comprehensive identity based on anti-colonial nationalism leaving all differences in terms of races, religions, languages, cultures and physical appearances.
This comprehensive identity based on anti-colonial nationalism vanished after the partition of India and Pakistan which was followed by the creation of Bangladesh.
In the absence of a solid foundation in the nation building process of India, there are deep rooted conflicts among minorities and majorities, underprivileged classes and powerful groups.
There are contradictory perspectives on the identity of Indian nation and extensive debates are raging on, the outfit remarked.
"The struggle for sovereignty is the identity of contemporary nationalism, and our people and revolutionary groups have a vision to build up a collective identity based on a comprehensive nationalism encompassing thew whole WESEA", it asserted.
The erstwhile process of nation building through subjugation and assimilation of smaller communities/groups is no longer applicable.
"For our people to decide our future.
There are two options viz; merge with the Indian nation or forge a new nation in association with all the people of WESEA.
Our people have experienced the ill consequences of Manipur's merger with India and it's time for our people to choose which of the two options", Laba asserted.
