Imphal, January 14 2017:
BJP Mahila Morcha today blamed the ruling Congress for the various problems plaguing the State.
The growing distrust and hatred among communities is the work of the Congress not the BJP, BJP Mahila Morcha president Sumatibala Ningthoujam stated.
The UNC's economic blockade began as a protest against the ruling Government's attempt to inaugurate an incomplete hospital at Ukhrul and against its proposal to upgrade Sadar Hills to a full-fledged district.
Alleging that the Congress's divide and rule policy has led to the division of the hills and the valley, Sumatibala said the creation of new districts could have been done three to four years back.
"That the Government chose to declare the creation of new districts only days before the State Assembly elections is clear cut indication that the move was politically motivated", she said.
The alleged relationship between the UNC and the NSCN(IM) was never mentioned when Congress ruled India.
When the BJP took charge, the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister of the State began openly declaring the link between the UNC and NSCN(IM) on public platforms, Sumatibala said adding that the Mahila Morcha strongly condemn such double faced nature of the Congress.
Asserting that the demands made by the NSCN(IM) are un-justified, the Mahila Morcha president said the State Government is negligent on the matters of Naga Peace talk and urged the same to be more responsible.
She further expressed disappointment with how the ruling Congress is handling the present situation of the State.
"The Congress's claim that BJP and the UNC jointly imposed the economic blockade in the State is a political move.
BJP will claim majority in the upcoming Assembly elections.
The Congress will be able to secure some 10 seats, or below", she said.
She further appealed to the masses to support BJP in the ensuing State Assembly Elections.
