Govt policy should reflect safety measures during quake: RK Anand

Pointing out that the North East region falls under the High Seismic Zone, Congress intending candidate for the coming Lok Sabha election, RK Anand, has underscored the importance of reflecting safety measures in case of earthquake in the future while forming Government policy, as well as when it comes to taking up any construction work in the State.
Speaking as the chief guest during the inaugural function of the corporate office of RKBS Construction Private Limited, Changangei Uchekon, Airport Road today, Anand, who is also the ex-MLA of Naoriya Pakhanglakpa A/C, went on to stress on the need for identifying and sorting out appropriate areas in the valley region where construction works can be taken up while noting that a large number of people continue to concentrate the region and many residential houses are being constructed without following any systematic process.
He opined that the construction work in the valley region should be focused on horizontal expansion rather than vertical expansion.
Saying that the State has many prospects, he maintained that private construction companies should play a pivotal role in this regard once the Act East Policy starts materializing.
Lauding that major construction companies from other States and big cities are taking keen interest in establishing their units/offices in the State, he said that such initiatives will help the State develop.
Manipur should be made a part of the dramatic changes that are taking place, he observed while stating that organized construction companies are still scarce in the State although many small construction companies have sprung up in the State.
Meanwhile, RKBS Construction Private Limited Director RK Bisheshore conveyed that the main objective for setting up the company is to construct commercial and residential buildings in the State in particular and country in general.
He continued that the company also deals in Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC) block and AAC adhesive.
Informing that AAC is a highly advanced construction material which is relatively lighter than other building materials, is highly resistant to fire and moisture, the Director added that AAC adhesive is also highly resistant to pests and insects.
Retired PWD/MTDC Chief Engineer Oinam Digendra, retired Additional Chief Engineer (IFCD) T Thaba Devi, ARDEX Endura India Private Limited, Bangalore Manager Jayenta Bezbarauh, Hospital Services Consultancy Cooperation (HSCC) Limited, GoI Deputy General Manager Vikas Thapar and Imphal West Adakshya RK Taruni Devi also attended the function as president and guests of honour.
