Imphal, August 12 2016 :
The All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) has urged the State Government to fulfil their charter of demands at the earliest.
ATSUM, in a statement issued by its education secretary Lovejoy Shimray said it is a matter of serious concern that the State Government has not been able to concretise what was assured.
The Chief Minister, in a meeting with ATSUM members on June 16 this year, assured to meet all the demands of the union including the regularisation of Adhoc teachers and establishment of B.Ed centres in all the Government colleges in the hill districts.
ATSUM has been insisting the Government to initiate the process for regularisation.
It said the acute shortage of teachers in the hill districts are the root cause of unsatisfactory results in the HSLC examinations every year.
It is also a matter of concern that some Adhoc teachers will be retiring within 2/3 years without proper provisions, the union stated.
"Taking into consideration what has been assured by the GoM, the All Tribal Students' Union Manipur feels that regularisation process should begin by August 20 or else ATSUM will be compelled to launch different forms of agitation", the union said.
