Chandel, January 10 2017:
Thadou Students' Association, Chandel has vehemently condemned the murder of S Otkhomang Mate, chief of N Gamnom and Tilpao Haokip, Church head deacon of Gamnom.
Manipur has become a place where ordinary citizens are no longer safe, TSA, Chandel said in a statement.
Alleging the State Government of being insensitive to the issue, the statement said that settling the issue by providing ex gratia without any action against the perpetrators would not deter the perpetrators from committing crime.
Any settlement that is devoid of bringing the culprits to justice is no justice to the victim.
Such settlement would encourage crime, the statement said.
The State Government as well as the perpetrators of the crime should realise that no amount of money or job would be able to replace the life of a person.
Therefore, one needs to stop killing or harming another and the State Government needs to act to deter criminals from committing crime.
The statement also urged the involved individual(s) or group(s) to claim responsibility of the act.
On the other hand, Rural People's Development Federation (RPDF), Chandel has also condemned the murder of the village chief and Church leader.
Extending solidarity to the bereaved family members, RPDF appealed to all the group(s) and organisation(s) concerned not to repeat such act in future.
All Maring Sports' Association while condemning the murder of the village chief and Church leader has also expressed strong resentment against the life attempt on former president of All Maring Sports' Association on January 5 at his residence located at Maringphai.
