A class XI student of Standard Robarth English School has been adopted by State Bank of India, MU branch under Community Service Banking.
Leishangthem Babycha is the daughter of Leishangthem Subhas and Tamphamani of Langthabal Kunja Makha Leikai.
Her father expired in 2000 .
After that, Tamphamani struggled hard to continue schooling of her daughter amidst various problems of the family.
Considering both academic excellence and condition of the family, the bank decided to adopt the girl.
During a simple function held at its premises this afternoon, SBI MU branch manager Indrakumar Rana handed over a bank passbook to Babycha.
With the opening of an account in her name, all her needs would be provided by the bank, Indrakumar Rana said.
Being a child, Babycha would not understand banking services.
For this, a staff of the bank has been appointed to look after the needs of Babycha, the manager said.
The function was also attended by the Principal of Standard Robarth English School, Babycha's mother Tamphamani and staff of the bank.
