Months after the National Food Security Act (NFSA) was launched in the State by the Chief Minister to provide benefits to all citizens, a Councilor has demanded clarification from the authorities concerned as to why all targeted public distribution system related records are not placed in public domain.
Addressing media persons at Pishumthong, Council Ward No-13 of Keishamthong Assembly Constituency Oinam Romeo stated that it is clearly mentioned in the rules and regulation of NFSA-2013 that such records and beneficiary list should be made available in public domain.
But the authorities concerned have failed to provide such list of his ward and it has created misunderstanding as to who are included in the list of beneficiaries.
Further, he demanded that the authorities concerned provide the list to in respect of Ward No 13 by Monday.
It may be mentioned that according to Chapter 11 of the Gazette of the NFSA-2013 under Transparency and Accountability, 'all targeted public distribution system related records shall be placed in the public domain and kept one for inspection to the public, in such manner as may be prescribed by the State Government' .
Taking serious note on the formation of State Food Commission, he asked who are the chairman and members of the said commission if it was ever formed by the State Govt.He stated that without the commission there will be no place to address grievances of the public.
Further, he appealed to the authorities concerned to release the quota of PDS material for Ward No 13 for the month of January, February and March at the earliest.
