Imphal, April 09 2015 :
In pursuit of their demand for service regularization, the Joint Action CommitteeAll Manipur Hill Districts Contract Basis Teachers' Association (JAC-AMHDCBTA) has prohibited National projects being executed in different parts of the State from today.
Members of the JAC today went to Maram and checked whether BRO was continuing the construction work of Maram-Peren (Nagaland) road.
They also checked whether Thoubal-Kasom Khullen road construction work being executed by ABCI Infrastructures Pvt Ltd was going on or not.
The JAC also checked construction works of Jiribam-Tupul railway line, Bishnupur-Tupul road and Joujangtek-Rengpang road.
Speaking to media persons in front of a camp of ABCI Infrastructure Pvt Ltd at Somrei village, Senapati district along Thoubal-Kasom Khullen road, the JAC's key member Roundar Paul said that they submitted a number of memoranda to Chief Minister O Ibobi seeking service regularization.
However there was no response compelling the JAC to submit an ultimatum on March 25.Accordingly the agitation of prohibiting National projects was launched from today, Roundar said.
Directorate of Education (S)-Hills appointed a large number of teachers on contract basis in 2006 and their service period was extended up to 2008 .
Although there was no service extension after 2008, the Directorate selected 772 teachers for service regularization after physical verification in 2011.But the matter is still kept pending.
At the same time, many schools particularly those located in hill districts have been enduring acute shortage of teaching staff.
Given these facts, the demand for service regularization of teachers appointed on contract basis is quite legitimate, he asserted.
The JAC is prepared to launch more intense forms of agitation in case a satisfactory response is not received from the Government by April 11, Roundar said.
Meanwhile, the Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong has pledged support to the JAC's agitation.
Notably, the JAC's demand has been already endorsed by ANSAM, KSO, ZSUM, ZYF, NSUC, TYCM and FTYCM.
