Seminar held on World Health Day at Mongpijang Village

A seminar on health was organised in commemoration of the World Health Day at Mongpijang Village in Sadar Hills yesterday under the aegis of Gundung Cluster Committee, World Vision India, Sadar Hills ADP, according to a statement.
Giving the keynote address, L Michael Singh, CDC World Vision India, Sadar Hills ADP said that the love and care shown to elders by the younger generations has been diminishing particularly when it comes to their health.
Pointing out that health care facilities in the hill areas are still in a pathetic condition, Michael stressed on bringing better facility in the area particularly for the senior citizens.
Speaking as the resource person, Dr H Satyajyoti Singh said that the greatest health threat to the elders is non-communicable disease like heart disease and stroke.
He urged the gatherings not to stress the elders with heavy workloads, the release said.
Another resource person, L Elizabeth, Nurse, Family Welfare department spoke on diarrhoea management, which is one of the most common diseases that takes heavy toll in the hill area.
She stressed on keeping the surrounding clean and eat clean and healthy foods.
Saying that health is wealth, Elizabeth urged all mothers to take responsibility in maintaining the health of the family.
Anganwadi workers and ASHA workers other health workers should not be entrusted alone, she said.
She also said that economic and social development should go hand in hand in order to bring a healthy nation, the statement added.
