Decrying the re-engagement of one retired Chief Engineer of Water Resource Department Robindro Sharma and the following inaction of the Government on the matter, Zeliangrong Human Rights Protection Forum in association with Imphal East Loumi Lup organised a rally today.
The rally was taken out from Langol Laimanai, Ramgailong under Saitu Assembly Constituency.
Speaking at the sidelines of the rally, Zeliangrong Human Rights Protection Forum president Robert Gonmei has decried that the N Biren led Government is governing above the law as it is capable of extending the service period of a 60 year old retired officer of Water Resource Department, who has also been denied any extension of service time by the High Court of Manipur.

Despite the prohibition order issued by the High Court, the Biren led Government has not revoked the service extension order till date.
Robert continued that the orders issued by Single bench and Division bench denying any extension of service of Robindro Sharma will be submitted to the Prime Minister and Home Minister.
On the other hand, Imphal East Loumee Lup president Sanjit Yambem has questioned the motive behind re-engagement/reappointment of the retired Chief Engineer and the reason why the BJP Government has the utmost need of the said officer till now.
He questioned if the Government will be planning to shut down the department if the said officer dies early.
Village chiefs and locals of those areas affected by Maphou Dam along with members of Imphal East Loumee Lup were took part in the rally.
The protesters held up pla cards which reads, No one is above the law but the BJP Govt is above the law, We condemn extension of G Robindro Sharma's service, withdraw cabinet decision etc.
