Four protestors, who were apprehended by police for their alleged involvement in hurling footwears (chappals) at the residential complex of sports and IFC Minister N Biren Singh recently have been remanded to judicial custody for 15 days today.
The four, produced before a court have been charged of unruly conducts and alliances with banned/armed organisations.
The accused persons had been confined under police custody ever since they were hauled up on october 1 for agitating at the Luwangsangbam residence of the Minister on September 30 as a part of the ongoing public movement against the July 23 firing at BT Road that led to the death of two persons and wounded five others.
When the four were produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class, Imphal the judge initially decreed they could be released on bail which the accused declined voluntarily.
The four remanded to judicial custody upto october 21 are mangsatabam Loitangjao Devi (40) a member of Luwangsangbam Gram Panchayat, Mangsatabam Phajarei Devi (57) also a gram panchayat member, local meira paibi secretary Mangsatabam Leima Devi (46) and Nongthonbam Inao Devi (40).JACs of Rabina and Sanjit had claimed that its supporters were involved in the protest demonstrations at the Minister's residence.
