Relief camps opened at various places; many extend aid

Relief camps have been opened in various places across the State to shelter the numerous people who have been rendered homeless owing to the violence and arson aftermath of the Tribal Solidarity March on May 3 last.
Help continue to pour in from all spheres to these relief camps to extend relief to the people affected by the turmoil.

Bishnupur
Relief centres have been opened at Thangjing Guest House; Maibam Leikai Mandop; Sindam Sanglen Shribon Leikai Mandop; Sendra Road Mandop; Moirang Multipurpose Higher Secondary School; Khoyol Keithel Moirang Lamkhai and some other places of Moirang Assembly Constituency.
The above camps have been opened to house the people who have been displaced by the recent outburst of violence in the neighbouring areas of Churachandpur and Bishnupur districts.
Ibuthou Thangjing Seva Mandal, Moirang; Famnaiba Cheirap Loisang and Moirang MLA Office have been striving earnestly to provide food and basic amenities to these camps which have been sheltering around 2000 violence stricken people.
Clubs, organizations and many individuals have been extending aid in the form of food, clothes etc to these camps as well.
The Konung Leikai Youth Development Club, Konung Leikai, Palace Compound in a press note informed that the club provided edible items and clothes to relief camps opened at Thangjing Guest House, Moirang Khunou Sabal Leikai, Chandapur, Moirang Khunou Mayai Leikai Seba Club and Moirang Santhong Union Club.
The Welfare Club, Sagolband Tera Akham Leikai, Amudon Leirak also extended relief materials to various relief camps opened at Moirang, Kwakta and Santhong.
The relief items were donated by the residents of the locality and surrounding areas.
Jiribam
Many people from Cachar are taking refuge in Hmarkholien, Haokipunji, Mikirpunjee and Ramgaizang in Jiribam district sensing danger in view of the tense situation in Manipur.
MLA of Jiribam Md Achab Uddin along with the Peace Committee members formed by various leaders and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) of Jiribam district along with took stock of the situation at Hmarkholien Cachar and Lamtai Khunou in Jiribam district and extended aid to these camps.
The members interacted with the refugees at these places and assured that collective measures will be taken up to bring back normalcy.
The MLA while speaking to the media said that the Chief Minister directed him to assess the situation and provide best possible assistance to the people.
He further maintained that the situation is gradually improving in the State.
