Maram sports meet kickstarts

The 30th sports meet of Maralui Karalimei Swijoikang (Maram Students' Union) was set into motion with the theme 'Embracing' today at Brig SK Sharma Ground, Maram Khunou amidst cultural extravaganzas.
Commissioner (Arts and Culture/YAS), RK Nimai; Director of YAS, N Ashok Kumar; Joint Secretary (Tribal Affairs), Kangung George Maram and DC (Senapati), PK Jha attended the inaugural ceremony of the sports meet as the chief guest, guest of honour, honorary and host guest respectively.
General Secretary of North East Students' Organisation (NESO), Sinam Prakash; Assistant GS of Naga Students' Federation, Christopher; president of AMSU Thiyam Naresh; President of ATSUM, Emboi Serto; President of KSO (Ghqs) Peter Mate attended the programme as the distinguished invitees.

RK Nimai unfurled the MKS flag and released mementos of the students' union while N Ashok Kumar unveiled a commemorative plaque.
Speaking at the occasion, RK Nimai said that there are talented players in every nook and corner of the State.
But they remained unnoticed due to lack of exposure.
He said that not only selected players from all districts of the State are provided free training at Khuman Lampak Sports Academy, they are also imparted education during their stay in the academy.
RK Nimai also lauded the efforts of MKS in preserving the age-old tradition of the tribe while adding that steps for preservation of cultural heritage would soon be taken up.
Distinguished invitees of the function delivered solidarity messages.
Presentation of cultural items was another attraction.
Meanwhile, 33 federating units of the MKS have submitted a joint memorandum to the Commissioner (Art and Culture/YAS) seeking assistance towards the conservation of Maram culture.
