'IPR is an important Department'

The Information and Public Relations is an important Department as it helps in spreading awareness not only on programmes and policies but also various developmental schemes, said IPR Minister Thongam Biswajit Singh during the first monthly review meeting of the Department held at the conference hall, New Secretariat office.
Elaborating on the importance of the Department, he instructed the officials concerned particularly the District Information Officers to ensure full functioning of the district information offices located at different district headquarters.
The district offices should help in educating the masses on the developmental programmes and schemes of the Government.
Biswajit said the monthly review meeting is being conducted with the main aim to bridge the gap between the Government and Department officials.
He said, "Bridging the gap not only between the different communities but between the officials and the Government is needed" .
Saying that everyone should do contribute towards building a healthy society, Biswajit said, "Let us work together and grow together to develop a new better society" .
He also urged the officials not to delay in executing their duty.
He further asked the heads of the Department to highlight their grievances before him so that he could discuss the issue with the Chief Minister for necessary steps.
He also enquired about the ongoing construction of the department building at Keishampat.
Lalrongbawl Hmar, Deputy Director, IPR also expressed the need to strengthen the DIO offices by providing more staff and vehicles.
Meghachandra Kongbam, Director , IPR, Ch Sachi, Deputy Secretary, Ch Noyon, Deputy Director, N Krishnakumar Singh, Assistant Publicity Officer (Press), DIOs and other officials were also present at the meeting.
