Imphal, February 06 2017:
Peeved at not getting the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket for contesting in the ensuing State Assembly election, Chungkham Bijoy @ Thoiba who was preparing to contest the election from Patsoi Assembly Constituency on the party ticket has resigned from the party.
Addressing a press meet held at his Kwakeithel Thounaojam Leikai residence today late evening, Ch Bijoy announced that he would be joining another National political party soon.
He claimed that he joined BJP in Ahmedabad in 2004 when Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat.
He maintained that he was a strong believer in the activities initiated by BJP and later became a State Executive Member of BJP Manipur Pradesh.
Claiming that he had played a major role in enrolment of thousands of workers in the party in the constituency, he said that leaders of BJP Manipur Pradesh have not done justice in allotment of party ticket as for Patsoi A/C .
He alleged that allotment of BJP ticket in the State was not based on merits and credentials of aspiring candidates.
Responding to a query, Bijoy said that he has been approached by several National political parties to contest the election on their ticket.
The final decision to which party he would join will be taken after consulting the people of Patsoi, he added.
He made a fervent appeal to the electorate of Patsoi to elect a trusted and honest candidate in the coming election.
