Imphal, November 05 2019:
As part of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative, Rajya Sabha MP K Bhabananda launched e-slate for Anganwadi centres of Imphal East district at Panchayat Bhawan, DC office complex, Porompat today.
The launching function was organised by District Administration Imphal East along with Imphal East DPO, ICDS Cell and Rustomjee Kerawalla Foundation.
K Bhabananda graced the function as the chief guest while Imphal East DC Dr Rangitabali Waikhom, Director of Social Welfare Ngangom Uttam and CDPO, Keirao Bitra Sapam Medani also attended.
Altogether 200 children (100 each from Anganwadi centres of Imphal East I and II) were presented with the e-slate for the first time, during the function.
Speaking at the function, K Bhabananda conveyed that it is rather a commendable initiative that the Government has introduced an advanced version of the original slate.
He stated that the electronic slate will help introduce technology to children and added that it will be more fun and learning-friendly too.
After finding out that Manipur is the only State in the North East availing minimum CSR fund, he said that a representation was submitted to the ministry to improve the situation of technology in Manipur.
Later, he came across the Rustomjee Kerawalla Foundation and necessary preparations were made to launch e-slate by collaborating with the foundation, through the MP fund.
However, Rustomjee Kerawalla Foundation presented the e-slate for free of cost for the welfare of the children, he added.
